Wednesday, 11 March 2015

Bilaspur (Agenzia Fides) - The freedom and personal dignity of Indian women continue to be trampled. From 2013 to 2014 over 4 million forced sterilizations were carried out in the country. There was turmoil in the State of Bilaspur due to the death of some women because of the unsanitary conditions in which, often, these operations are carried out. According to local sources, only one surgeon sterilized 83 women in a few hours, in a medical environment lacking the most basic hygiene rules. Local health authorities declared that after operations expired antibiotics were administered, which consequently caused the deaths of patients. The campaigns of forced mass sterilization are promoted with the intent to stop the population growth in the Country. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 11/03/2015)
