Shi Jia Zhuang (Agenzia Fides) - The memory of the dead, especially the examples of their faith that they gave us, help us to live a life of faith and witness: is the main theme that marked the commemoration of the dead in the Chinese Catholic communities of the continent on November 2, in communion with the universal Church. Bishops and priests also recalled the importance of the spiritual life of the faithful in the month dedicated to the dead.
As reported to Fides Agency by Faith of He Bei, despite November 2 was a weekday, more than 2,700 faithful of the Diocese of Wen Zhou in Zhe Jiang province, attended the solemn Mass for the souls of all the Bishops, priests , women religious and lay faithful of the Diocese of Wen Zhou. In his homily, Bishop, His Exc. Mgr. Zhu Wei Fang, stressed that "our prayers and sacrifices for the dead will turn into strength for our salvation and for evangelization," and recommended an "intense spiritual life in the month of November, praying earnestly for all the dead who contributed to the building of the Church and the spreading of the spirit of faith."
The faithful of the Diocese of Nan Chong of Si Chuan gathered outside the Catholic cemetery located in the monastery of St. Benedict to remember the dead. According to His Exc. Mgr. Chen, Bishop of the Diocese, "our prayer and their intercession support each other to convey the message of Christ in the world and live faith." Also hundreds of faithful of the parish of Wu Wei of the Diocese of Lan Zhou, in the Gan Su province, attended the memorial Mass celebrated in the local Catholic cemetery.
