Natal (Agenzia Fides) – With the conference "Communication and citizen participation: means and processes," presented by Father Ermanno Allegri of the Adital Agency, in Fortaleza (CE), the VIII Brazilian Mutirão of communication (Muticom) opens today, October 31,. The venue is the Auditorium of the Laboratory for Communication at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), in Natal. According to information sent to Fides Agency, the opening act also includes the presentation of the complete schedule of the five-day event. Also today, Natal Rural Radio will broadcast a special program on Muticom which will also be broadcast by a chain of other radio stations in several states in Brazil. The VIII Mutirão will have its final session from 27 October to 1 November 2013, again at the UFRN. The event is organized by the National Conference of Brazilian Bishops (CNBB), by Signis Brazil, of the Archdiocese of Natal, among other institutions, as well as being a project promoted by the UFRN.
The Brazilian Mutirão of communication was born in continuity with the Brazilian Congress of Social Communication, promoted by the Brazilian Union of communication (SNAB) already in 1970. The launch of the initiative happened long before, to promote the participation and organize the final meeting well. The aim of Muticom is to bring together communicators, operators, researchers, educators, pastoral workers and other professionals to discuss and reflect together on the policies of the media that exist today, through a variety of topics. The novelty of this year is the opportunity to attend the opening and the various events that prepare the event, even through social networks. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 31/10/2012)
