Maracaibo (Agenzia Fides) - From August 27 to September 1, the III Meeting of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of the Andean region countries was held in Maracaibo, Venezuela. The objective of this meeting was to provide a forum for the exchange and reflection on the activities of missionary animation carried out by each National Office in order for the PMS services in this region to grow and interrelate. According to information sent to Fides Agency, the National Directors of Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela, and representatives of the PMS in Colombia and Ecuador were among the participants at the meeting.
The meeting began with a Eucharistic celebration presided by Fr. Luis Briceno, Director of Missionary Childhood in Venezuela, then the first moment of formation with father Victor Livori, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Peru, who highlighted some important issues for the missionary activity of the Church in the light of II Vatican Council and of the Year of Faith, highlighting the call to the New Evangelization.
In the space reserved for each National Directorate to sharing the work carried out during the year 2011/2012, different activities were highlighted: missionary schools, the National Missionary Congress, summer missionary rallies for the young, the missionary campaign in the month of October, the path of preparation for CAM 4 (Fourth American Missionary Congress).
The importance of using modern technological tools in missionary animation was underlined: websites, audiovisual materials, brochures, posters, magazines, brochures, leaflets ... Among the priorities identified by participants at the end of the work, include the commitment to prepare the CAM 4 to be held in Maracaibo in 2013, in order to make it "a process and not an event"; to use all the tools of technology for missionary animation, without losing the essence of the process of evangelization; promote activities of missionary animation in the the different local Churches to make the Pontifical Mission Societies known.
