ASIA/HONG KONG- Charitable service and community life in view of the UN Youth Day

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - In view of Youth Day organized by the UN which has the theme Building a better world, partnering with youth, young Catholics of Hong Kong are preparing an educational activity with focus on charitable service and community life viewed as resources for living to the full faith and to fulfill social mission. According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), the Association of St. Vincent has organized several initiatives to celebrate on August 12 the UN Youth Day at a parish level, with family visits, assemblies and even the imitation of a parliamentary session on social issues. According to the head of the Association of St. Vincent, "the charitable service helps young people to get to know society better, especially the weaker sections that are the basis for their human and integral growth". The director of the pastoral care of the Catholic University Students Association adds: "community life helps young people to live their faith, and transmits the Christian value in society."
