Thursday, 17 November 2011

Mogadishu (Agenzia Fides) - The situation of the Somali population does not improve and the inexorable flight to Kenya in search of food and water continues. In the area of Wajir, one of the most affected by drought, most of the wells are damaged by the excessive use and due to the low level of water in the water-bearing stratum. To get to the first source of clean water, people have to walk five miles. The Camillian Task Force, the Camillian Missionaries and the Servants of the Sick in Wajir are engaged in the distribution of beans, rice, corn, oil in 5 very poor villages in the area of Garissa, with the help of the local parish. They are also working to activate a mobile clinic that primarily promotes visits to children and the elderly. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 17/11/2011)
