Thursday, 22 September 2011

Kao Hsiung (Agenzia Fides) - "To ignite the spark of Evangelization" was the theme of the Seminar organized by the Missionary Association of the Diocese of Kao Hsiung, on the island of Taiwan, on Sept. 17. According to information gathered by Fides, the initiative was motivated by a desire to improve the evangelizing quality and effectiveness, helping the lay faithful to create a good project for evangelization. In fact, according to the organizer, by creating a good project is like laying the foundations for a good missionary result, allowing more people to know Christ and his message and strengthen the faith of the Catholics. Almost a hundred lay people actively involved in parishes and Catholic associations took part in the Seminar, during which issues were presented linked to the elaboration of a project on evangelization: focusing on the main theme; linking the activities with evangelization; how to write a project; concrete examples, administration expenses; round table; practical exercise. The Seminar also emphasized that any task concerning evangelization must have a few clear principles: everything is done to glorify God and not to him who works; we must encourage the participation of the faithful; non-Christians must feel the closeness of the Church. Finally, the participants tried to create some projects for the activities of evangelization to be done at Christmas, Easter, the Commemoration of the dead .... Mgr. Peter Liu, Archbishop of the diocese, presided at the Mass, confirming the positive result of the Seminar and stressed the importance of drawing up a good project as the best basis for evangelization.
