Itabira (Agenzia Fides) - In the ecclesiastical province of Mariana (which includes, in addition to the archdiocese of Mariana, the dioceses of Caratinga Governador Valadares and Itabira-Coronel Fabriciano). On September 17 a meeting was held to coordinate the preparation for the First Missionary Congress of Mariana, which will be celebrated in April 2012. The note sent to Fides states that the meeting was held in the parish of Our Lady of Aparecida, in Itabira. Among the decisions taken by the participants include the date of the Congress, which will be celebrated from April 27 to 29 2012. The national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies of Brazil (PMS), Father Camilo Pauletti was also confirmed as the main responsible of the Congress. The central theme of the Congress of Mariana will be: "Secularism and the multi-cultural aspect that we live in our reality". The same theme was also proposed for the Third National Missionary Congress, which will be celebrated in Palmas in July 2012.
