AMERICA/PERU-Missionary formation enters social networks

Thursday, 4 August 2011

Carabayllo (Agenzia Fides) - The Missionary Studies Center (MSC) in the diocese of Carabayllo, Peru, has made its entry into social networks, opening up a profile on Facebook.
"The MSC has decided to venture into virtual space offered by the Internet, to share its missionary path with the community carried out over the years", says a note sent to Fides.
The MSC’s goal is missionary education and formation in particular concerning the lay.
" Virtual communication is a challenge, but also an extra opportunity , because using social networks means a great responsibility and a lot of dedication".
This new experience on the Internet is a response to the appeal on behalf of the Bishops of Latin America gathered at the General Conference of Aparecida, who wrote: "evangelization must not be limited to homilies, conferences, Bible or theology courses , but must also use different means of communication: such as the press, radio and television, websites, social forums and many other systems".
