ASIA/HONGKONG - The largest WYD delegation from the diocese of Hong Kong leaving for Madrid

Hong Kong (AgenziaFides ) - Over 800 young people and 21 priests from Hong Kong are leaving tomorrow, August 5, for Madrid to attend World Youth Day (WYD).
The participation in the next WYD has a larger delegation of young people compared to World Youth Day in Manila in 1995.
Hong Kong will be represented bymore than 200 young people from the diocese under the direction of the Diocesan Youth Pastoral Commission and will be joined by 600 other young people from 14 local youth communities, parishes, religious institutions, Catholic schools and ecclesial movements.
On July 31, His Exc. Mgr. John Tong, Bishop of Hong Kong, officially gave the mandate to the participants with a Mass in the Chapel of Christ the King at St. Paul’s School, concelebrated by 21 priests of the delegation. According to the program from August 6 to 10 a spiritual retreat and pilgrimage is planned; from 11 to 15 August the welcoming and participation in diocesan activities, from August 16 to 21 the participation in WYD. On 22 August return to Hong Kong .
