Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - "Thanksgiving, service and witness": these are the words that Mgr. John Tong, Bishop of the Diocese of Hong Kong, addressed to the parishioners of the Immaculate Heart of Our Lady on the occasion of the 150 years of evangelization and for the 50 years since the construction of the church. According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), Mgr. Tong presided the solemn celebration along with a dozen priests who carried out their pastoral service in this parish in previous years. In his homily, the Bishop underlined " evangelization and the witness of faith", he focused on keeping alive the memory of all those who contributed to the growth of this community, highlighting the fact that "evangelization is the best way " to remember them. Mgr. Tong said he hoped that, in the next two years, more people will be baptized in the diocese. 109 baptisms have been celebrated this year, a very high number compared to recent years. Given the multi-nationality of the parishioners, the celebration was held in Chinese and English.
