Bahia (Fides Service) - A missionary group with 15 people from the Commission "Church in the world," of the Guardian Angel parish in the Diocese of Graz, in Austria, visited Brazil from July 5 to 15. In addition to participating in the "Pilgrimage of Land and Water" in Bom Jesus da Lapa (BA), organized by the local Commission for the Pastoral Care of the Earth (CPE), the missionary team was able to see the realization of some projects financed by the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Austria and the PMS of the Diocese of Graz, in coordination with the CPE of the Diocese of Bom Jesus da Lapa.
According to Father Wolfgang Schwarz, diocesan director of the PMS in Graz and the parish priest of the Guardian Angel parish, the project of solidarity funds finances among other things, the creation of wells in the diocese of Barra (BA), goat breeding, the management of a community center, hiring of a part-time secretary for the CPE office, the construction of cisterns to collect rainwater.
During his stay in Brazil, Father Schwarz also spoke of how the Commission "Church in the world" is busy in making the work carried out by the CPE in Bahia known in Austria: "In our parish we give a lot of time to the presentation of the work carried out by the CPE and its projects. Thirteen years ago we started this chain of solidarity and now it is the third trip we make with a number of people of the Commission to also see directly the development of the projects ".
According to the note sent to Fides, the group also visited the national headquarters of the PMS, the headquarters of the National Conference of Brazilian Bishops (NCBB) and the Mission Cultural Center (MCC) in Brasilia. The National Director of the PMS in Brazil, Father Camilo Pauletti, on welcoming the group, stressed the importance of knowing the missionary experiences of the PMS in Austria, and in turn they must also have knowledge regarding the projects that are developed in Brazil , because "it is always important to know the PMS from other countries."
