AMERICA/PERU-More than 500 Disciples and Missionaries of Callao ready for the second "operation contact"

Saturday, 9 July 2011

Callao (Agenzia Fides) - From 11th to 16th July, the schools deanery of the Christ Liberador parish school will hold a training Course for Missionaries in the chapel of "Immaculate Heart of Mary" in Callao, city and port of Lima. The laity who participate are already living together a spiritual retreat for the formation of the disciples, from 8 to 10 July. Following the scheme of work prepared by the diocese of Callao, specifically from its Diocesan Commission for the Great Continental Mission, the future missionaries have to prepare for "operation contact" (see Fides 25/08/2010, 03/12/2011) . In fact, on Sunday, July 17 they will go door to door knocking on all the houses in the area, to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.
According to the note sent by the diocese to Fides, the celebration of the beginning of this operation will be presided by His Excellency Mons. Miguel Irizar Campos, Bishop of Callao, accompanied by Father Juan de Dios Rojas, Vicar general and head of the Great Diocesan Mission. Also Fr. Antonio Sillquihua, pastor of the chapel "Immaculate Heart of Mary", will be with them, who from the beginning motivated the whole community to respond with joy to the missionary commitment. This time, more than 500 missionaries of Callao will gather for this operation contact, from all the parishes. Guided by the Holy Spirit and the Bible in hand, they will bring everyone they meet what they have learned in the various training courses attended. (EC) (Agenzia Fides 07/09/2011)
