AMERICA/PANAMA - Assembly of the Episcopal Conference: waiting for the message at the end of the work

Panama City (Fides Service) - The Ordinary Assembly of the Bishops of Panama, number 192 in the session, which began on July 4 is still in progress. The program provides for the conclusion of the work on the 8th of July, with the publication of a message addressed to the whole Catholic community.
In the note sent to Fides, it is read that the opening of the Episcopal Conference Assembly of Panama (ECA), which counts on the participation of all the Bishops of the country, was charged to the President of the ECA, His Excellency Mgr. José Luis Lacunza Maestrojuan, Bishop of the diocese of David, which was followed by the intervention of Mgr. Andrés Carrascosa Coso, Apostolic Nuncio. The first speaker was Fr. Fernando Guardia Jaén , promoter of the Panamanian Institute of Education via Radio (PIER), which offers training for the young and adults, inspired by the Christian values and principles, so that they become capable of self-determination.
Today, July 7, at 5.30pm local time, the whole Episcopal Conference will be present at the solemn Mass in honor of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, which will be presided by the Apostolic Nuncio in the church of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This celebration will be broadcast by Catholic radio stations and radio stations in the country linked to them, and even the Internet through the website of the Episcopal Conference. On Friday, July 8, during a press conference in San Jose Major Seminary in Panama, at 10.30am, the Bishops will make public their message to the Republic of Panama. (EC) (Agenzia Fides 07/07/2011)
