ASIA/HONG KONG-A renewed commitment for the Sisters engaged in the diocesan pastoral of Hong Kong

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - Continue to give praise to God and to sanctify the soul of man through pastoral service: the renewed commitment made by the Sisters’ Association involved in the Diocesan Pastoral of Hong Kong (Hong Kong Diocesan Pastoral Sisters' Association) for the new year activity. According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin) during the Seminar and meeting of members held recently, the Association also elected the President (reconfirming Sister M. Salome Moe, FMA) and the management . Thirteen religious who carry out pastoral work in parishes, belonging to different active congregations in the diocese of Hong Kong, took part in the annual meeting, and also participated in the training seminar which was focused on the liturgy and sacred Scripture.
In the diocese of Hong Kong, with over 357,000 local faithful and 173,000 loyal foreign residents in Hong Kong, 28 are active religious women`s institutes, with 344 sisters of Chinese origin and 145 foreign sisters. The sisters run between 70 schools, nurseries and colleges with 73 professional religious teachers. There are 7 full-time novices and 18 are candidates. Finally, 31 religious catechists are paid by the diocese. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 10/06/2011)
