ASIA/TAIWAN - Registrations are about to close for the Youth Day in Taiwan, from July 14 to 17

Kao Hsiung (Agenzia Fides) - "Rebuild everything in Jesus Christ" is the theme of the World Youth Day in Taiwan in 2011 to be held in the diocese of Kao Hsiung, from July 14 to 17. According to information gathered by Fides, the main events of the annual youth appointment organized by the Taiwan Regional Bishops' Conference, which aims to strengthen the diocesan community, will be the celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a workshop on faith, prayer vigil and a concert. To do the honors this year is the diocese of Kao Hsiung, registrations are open until June 10.
The World Youth Day in Taiwan is an initiative which was launched by the Regional Bishops' Conference in Taiwan in 2004. The theme of the first edition (1-3 October in Nan Tou) was "Walk towards God and towards Love ". The second edition was in 2007 (from August 22 to 26 in Tai Nan) the theme was "As I loved you, so you also should love one another" (Gv13, 34). Since then it has become an annual event, with a theme for each year: "To receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and bear witness to the Lord" (from 9 to 12 October 2008 in Tai Pei); "Youth, come forward because Taiwan has hope; I think, talk and walk like Jesus " (from 19 to 22 August 2009 in Tai Chung). Last year's Day was celebrated from 23 to 30 August 2010 in the Diocese of Hsinchu, and had the same theme chosen by Pope Benedict XVI for the World Youth Day: "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?
