Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - The HK $ 26 million that Caritas Hong Kong was able to collect during the year will become an instrument of peace and concrete realization of Christ's love for the weakest and poorest . This was underlined by His. Exc. Mgr. John Tong, Bishop of Hong Kong, who presided over the homily for the Mass to thank the Lord for the "record collection" that Caritas was able to achieve during the last twelve months. According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), on the occasion, Caritas awarded about fifty parishes, Catholic schools, diocesan authorities and civilians, as well as many generous people who gave their full support for charity work. Caritas Hong Kong was founded in the diocese of Hong Kong on July 1, 1953, with the aim "To serve with love and give birth to hope. " Today, through its 275 service units, more than 5,300 employees, 140 local offices in Hong Kong, supported by over 10 000 volunteers, Caritas Hong Kong can best respond to the service of Christian charity, especially in the social sector, education, healthcare, hospitality and parish. Caritas Hong Kong is one of 162 members of Caritas Internationalis. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 04/06/2011)
