ASIA/TAIWAN-The Eucharistic Congress in Taiwan in the Year of the Laity and in preparation for the 50th International Eucharistic Congress 2012

Tai Nan (Agenzia Fides) – The spring Assembly of the Regional Episcopal Conference in Taiwan, held in recent days in the Diocese of Tai Nan, launched the Eucharistic Congress in Taiwan. According to reports from the Catholic Weekly, the weekly newsletter of the Archdiocese of Tai Pei, during the Assembly , Cardinal Paul Shan, President emeritus of the Regional Episcopal Conference, announced that the Eucharistic Congress in Taiwan will be held on November 19, 2011, on the eve of the solemnity of Christ the King, to celebrate the Year of the Laity and prepare the 50th International Eucharistic Congress of 2012, in Dublin, Ireland. To meet the pastoral needs of the faithful, there is also the link of the Congress in Dublin on the website of the Regional Episcopal Conference of Taiwan. During the spring Assembly Cardinal Paul Shan also summarized the current fields of work and commitment of the local Church in Taiwan: the celebration for the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Diocese of Tai Nan, Tai Chung and Hsin Chu connected to a renewed commitment to the formation of the laity, support and prayer for the cause of beatification of Paul Xu Guang Qi; the opportunity to take full advantage of the Sanctuary of the Mount of Beatitudes to allow the spiritual and moral life of Christians and also non-Christians to grow.
