AMERICA/COLOMBIA-The presence of the Church in the digital age: Forum sponsored by the Bishops

Bogota (Agenzia Fides) - "Truth, Preaching and Authenticity of Life in the Digital Age" is the theme of the Forum to be held on June 1 at the Regina Apostolorum auditorium at the headquarters of the Episcopal Conference of Colombia (ECC). According to information sent to Fides from the Department of Communications of the Episcopal Conference of Colombia, the Forum takes place in the context of the 45th World Day of Social Communications, and will analyze the presence of the Church in the digital media and how new technologies, especially Internet , will be able to change the communication between people, presenting new ways of learning, thinking and relating.
The event will be attended by Bishop Hector Gutierrez Pabon, Bishop of Engativá and the President of the Pastoral Social Communication, Dr. Diego Molano Vega, Minister of Information Technologies and Communications, prof. Pablo Francisco Arrieta, from the Javeriana University and the Andes. In the second part of the day there will be a panel discussion that will cover the following topics: the presence of the Church in the digital world, social networks, the work of evangelization through new technologies.
