Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - The promotion of vocations and training is a responsibility of the whole Church, said Don Benedict Lam Cho Ming, chairman of the Diocesan Vocations Commission of Hong Kong during the event organized on May 14, the eve of the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), Don Lam explained to the people present the meaning of the Day: "if there were not any people who devote themselves entirely to the Church, it would be impossible to spread the Gospel. " Family and sharing, he then underlined, "are important elements for the growth of a vocation. " Therefore a Jesuit seminarian, was invited to share his experience of vocation during the evening.
The Vocation Promotion Group was established in June 1977 and in 1978 became the Diocesan Vocations Commission of Hong Kong, with the aim of helping young people to get to know the priestly vocation and the vocation to consecrated life; promoting the Catholic family to enrich knowledge of consecrated life to help the discernment of their children, promote and coordinate the training project of vocations of the Catholic community.
