AMERICA/CHILE-Pastoral operators of the center north of the country engaged in examining the Continental Mission

Friday, 6 May 2011

La Serena (Agenzia Fides) - The Regional Days organized by the Episcopal Conference of Chile are being held in La Serena. From May 5 to 7 is the turn of the Centre North. The objective of this Second Regional Meeting of the Episcopal Conference, which this time brought together the pastoral workers of La Serena, Illapel, Valparaiso and San Felipe, is to share the pastoral path indicated by the Continental Mission and at the same time to strengthen the realization of the guidelines for pastoral care.
The note sent to Fides explains that these Regional Days are the result of a joint effort of several pastoral areas of the Episcopal Conference: social and church ministry, operators of evangelization, communications, education. All the diocesan Bishops, pastoral vicars and leaders of all diocesans of all the areas are invited to attend.
The first day was illuminated by the words of the Gospel of John: "My Father is the vine-dresser. Every branch in me that bears no fruit he takes away and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit" (cf. Jn 15 , 2). Group work originated from this passage of the Gospel, which took into exam the strengths and weaknesses of the Continental Mission. At the end an evaluation summary of the Continental Mission was presented, gathering the needs identified by the diocese in the south of the country on this path.
The Eucharist was presided by the Archbishop of La Serena, Mgr.Manuel Donoso, who invited the participants to be daring in following the Continental Mission, to have the courage to continue to give impetus to this new Pentecost.
After the "Days" of La Serena, ending May 7, according to the program of the Episcopal Conference two other areas of the North are missing to complete the five areas involved in the initiative, which manages to cover virtually the entire country. (EC) (Agenzia Fides 06/05/2011).
