Luanda (Agenzia Fides) – Mgr. Filomeno do Nascimento Vieira Dias, Bishop of Cabina, Vice President of CEAST (Episcopal Conference of Angola and Sao Tome) and Mgr. Oscar Lino Fernandes Braga, Bishop Emeritus of Benguela, are the two bishops who represent the Episcopal Conference of Angola and Sao Tome at the Mass for the beatification of Pope John Paul II, Sunday, 1 May in Rome. Mgr. Filomeno Vieira Dias recalls how the visit of John Paul II in Angola, in 1992, was a special occasion for the country. "The event was lived with great fervor in the various dioceses of Angola”, said the Vice President of CEAST.
Last week the CEAST published a book: "The Pope of our time”. The work is an aid for daily prayer, praising God for the gift of Pope John Paul II, and because God will continue to nourish the Church with holiness. "The Church is a community of saints, because the world needs a community of saints”, underlined Mgr. Vieira Dias
In addition to the two bishops, the Angolan delegation is made up of other people, including a delegation of more than 20 people participating in a pilgrimage organized by the Cultural Association "Populorum Progressio”. Domingos das Neves, director of the association, said that the most important element is the legacy of love left by the Pope of the young. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 30/04/2011)
