ASIA/HONG KONG - The Pilgrimage of the Cross of Evangelization to raise awareness of the faithful on their missionary responsibility

Friday, 15 April 2011

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - With the blessing of the Cross given by Bishop John Tong, the diocesan Bishop, the pilgrimage of the Cross of Evangelization in the diocese of Hong Kong officially began on April 3. According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), in the coming months the cross will devoutly be welcomed in parishes, Catholic schools, religious convents, to convey the "message of the Cross" and help the faithful to reflect on the meaning of salvation of the Cross. Moreover, a large procession is a convincing way to witness and spread the faith among non-Christians. The pilgrimage, called "Come and Follow Me", is motivated by the need to sensitize the faithful on their missionary responsibility, because it is not limited only to the World Mission Day, but lasts all year round-365 days.
