AMERICA/BRAZIL - “Mission and Ecology”: first Meeting of Society of Holy Childhood and Missionary Adolescence for the State of São Paulo

São Paulo (Agenzia Fides) – The organisation of the first Regional Meeting of the Society of Holy Childhood and Missionary Adolescence, which will be held on 16 and 17 July in the city of Embù, was the focus of the regional team meeting of the Child and Adolescent Mission for the State of São Paulo, held March 20 at the headquarters of the 'Obra dos Cenáculos Missionários', in Lapa. The team consists of members of the Archdiocese of São Paulo, and the Dioceses of Santo André, Santos, São Miguel Paulista and Taubaté. According to information sent to Fides, Fusinato Nadia Maria da Silva, State Coordinator, pointed out that the first regional Meeting is aimed at children and young missionaries, and will be a time of animation and sharing of experiences. They are expecting to attract around 150 participants from all the dioceses around the state.
The theme of the meeting is “Mission and Ecology”, in line with the Campaign of Fraternity and Mission this year. Rodrigo Alves Piatezzi, of the Diocese of São Miguel Paulista, stressed that this theme underlines their commitment to fighting for the defence of all life on the planet, not only to protect the environment but also human beings, especially children, constantly threatened by war, hunger, lack of basic nutrition, violence and slavery. The meeting will be developed through lectures, theatre, workshops, testimonies, prayers and exchange of experiences, highlighting the role of child and youth missionaries.
