AMERICA/CHILE - Who and what do we celebrate in the Liturgy? The 36th Day of Pastoral Care for the Vicariate of Aysén

Monday, 7 March 2011

Aysén (Agenzia Fides) – For 36 years, the Apostolic Vicariate of Aysén has celebrated the Day of Pastoral Care with prayer, formation, planning and brotherhood. “The 2011 Day of Pastoral Care, which will take place between 18 and 20 March, will take 'the Liturgy' as its central theme,” explains the Apostolic Vicar of Aysén, Bishop Luis Infanti de la Mora, OSM, to Fides. “The theme of the Liturgy will be explored from all angles: namely, what is the liturgy, what do we celebrate and who is celebrated in it.” In preparation for this meeting, Bishop Infanti de la Mora sent a questionnaire to every ecclesial community in the Vicariate, to respond before 14 March, to diagnose the liturgical reality of each zone: type of participation; the link between the Liturgy and catechesis, charity and cultural life; the tools offered by the Liturgy to enter into dialogue with God (readings, homily, hymns etc); and the successes and difficulties of each community.
The Vicariate's Pastoral Care Day this year will be characterised by the presence of two special guests: the Apostolic Nuncio of Chile, Archbishop Giuseppe Pinto, and the Under-Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, Fr Massimo Cenci, PIME, who will thus have the opportunity to get to know the reality of the Catholic Church in the region. For Pastoral Care Day 2011, in addition to the priests, deacons and men and women religious, two or three representatives from each ecclesial community, movement and body of the Church, and the College of the Church in Aysén were invited.
