ASIA/HONG KONG - Youth laity in Hong Kong depart for three months of missionary experience in Kenya

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) – With a missionary mandate conferred by Father Kam Po Wai Paul, President of the Commission for Pastoral Youth Ministry in Hong Kong, and by Father Franco Cumbo, Provincial Superior of the Pontifical Foreign Missionary Society, lay female, Liang Tian Ning departed from Hong Kong for Kenya, for a three month missionary experience. According to Kong Ko Bao (the diocesan bulletin in Chinese), before her departure on 27 January, the youth participated in the monthly spiritual retreat organised by the Commission for Pastoral Youth Ministry in Hong Kong, on 8 and 9 January. During the solemn Eucharist celebrated at the end of the retreat, Liang Tian Ning received the mandate and missionary cross with the placing of hands to invoke in her an abundance of the Holy Spirit. Upon arriving at her destination, Liang Tian Ning was united with another lay missionary from Hong Kong, Chen Qian Ying. She has begun missionary work in schools, parishes and in Sunday-schools.
