Tai Nan (Agenzia Fides) – A new wave of evangelisation is the focus of celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Diocese of Tai Nan: the announcement was launched by Mons. Bosco Lin Chi Nan (Ordinary of the Diocese since 2004) in his pastoral letter published for the occasion. According to information gathered by Fides, Mons. Lin emphasised two important aspects for this year: the celebration of the Year for the Laity and the celebration of the diocese's jubilee in the first part of the pastoral letter of the Regional Episcopal Conference of Taiwan (see Fides 10/01/2011).IN the second part, he presents the 50 year diocesan journey since its foundation, placing intensification of evangelisation at its centre: “the five deans are committed to each organising a seminar on spirituality and ongoing formation to encourage personal and communal reading of Sacred Scripture, to study and share the way of evangelisation and the witness of faith, towards achieving the goal that all the faithful represent paths of evangelisation.” Bishop Lin also illustrates a number of concrete initiatives, such as the diocesan evangelisation exhibition, Eucharistic adoration and prayer for the diocese, concerts, and a special publication with the year's events. The solemn closing of the diocese's jubilee year will be celebrated in October, the month of missions.
The Diocese of Nan Tai currently has 9,108 faithful, 1 Bishop, 31 diocesan and 27 religious priests, 6 religious brothers, 68 religious sisters, and 10 catechists.
