AMERICA/PERU - The Archbishop of Lima officially opens RPP TV headquarters: “communication aids in the progress of the human family”

Lima (Agenzia Fides) – Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani, Archbishop of Lima, officially opened the headquarters of the new television station RPP TV (television from the Catholic radio station “Radio Programas Peru”). The Archbishop said that he now considers himself part of the family of RPP and this new project, the television communication, because in the 11 years of his radio program “Dialogue of faith”, which is broadcast every Saturday, he has been able to better understand the work of journalists. “If there is anything that distinguishes this group of workers,” added the Cardinal, “it is that somehow you are brethren. You are known to each other. You are friends and you help one another.... This passion for helping others is what keeps the spirit alive in this radio station.”
The note sent to Fides by the press office of the Archdiocese of Lima, the words of the Cardinal are reported: “We ask God that the simple communication between people may help mankind's progress. This is the will of God who wants us united in freedom and truth.” Finally he asked the Lord to help and strengthen the communication activities for all the family that make up the RPP group, to sow peace and truth and promote Peru's development.
RPP is the radio station with the greatest coverage throughout the Country (covers 97% of the land). Founded in 1963, most of its programming is dedicated to news. In recent years it has kept abreast of technical updates in communications. It may be found on the internet and heard in real time. It can be heard by cable and now it is opening its own television channel with RPP TV. The RPP group currently has six radio stations and a thousand people working for them throughout the country.
