ASIA/HONG KONG - “Meaning, mission, challenges and trends”: meeting of Superiors of the Chinese Salesians

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) – “Called by the Lord to be Superiors: meaning, mission, challenges and trends” was the theme of the formation event which brought together men and women Salesian superiors in the Chinese province. According to Kong Ko Bao (the diocesan bulletin in Chinese), the men and women religious superiors (SDB and FMA respectively) and Sisters from the Congregation of the Annunciation of the Lord attended the meeting in hong Kong on 14 January. Father Simon Lam, Provincial Superior of the Salesians presided over the meeting. Commencing with the Sacred Scripture, participants meditated on the qualities necessary to be the superior of their particular mission, sharing three main points: the meaning and practical way of spiritual direction (accompaniment); the trends of the Instruction “The service of Authority and Obedience” (11 May 2008) by the Congregation for the Institutes for Consecrated Life and the Societies for Apostolic Life; the relationship on the theme: “The role of Superiors and challenges” presented by Father Timothy Radcliffe, OP.
