AMERICA/UNITED STATES - Catholic Mexican actor to build largest American crisis pregnancy center

Los Angeles (Agenzia Fides) - “We are compelled to step up our efforts and will power of the soul to help the unfortunate, the sick and the poor, strengthen family ties, practice charity and live with integrity. This all will make Christ enter our heart, allowing him to become part of our soul,” states Mexican producer and star of the film “Bella”, international speaker and much recognized pro-life advocate, Eduardo Verástegui, in his recent Christmas message. Verástegui spoke to the Osservatore Romano English edition at the end of 2009 about his dream to raise the necessary funds to open a pro-life medical center in the middle of all the abortion clinics in Los Angeles (LA). This dream is about to be realized. He announced the fact that plans are underway for his international aid organization, “Mantle of Guadalupe”, to build the largest crisis pregnancy centre in the United States on 15 January at a gala dinner in Beverly Hills. 300 guests at the dinner raised funds for the pro-life Mantle of Guadalupe medical center which recently opened in LA and provides free of charge pre-natal care, ultrasounds and natural family planning to women in need.

So, Eduardo Verástegui continues on his mission, tirelessly working to prevent abortions. He regularly stands in front of abortion clinics and begs the pregnant women going in for a minute of their time. He offers solutions, helping them with medical care, food, finding work, whatever it takes. He told guests at the 15 January gala dinner, “I will not use my talents except to elevate my Christian, pro-life and Hispanic values.” He introduced the guests to some of the babies saved from abortion thanks to his organization's work and announced the launch of a new website www.IamViable.com, an on-line community where people come to celebrate the unique abilities that God has placed in each and every individual.
