Wednesday, 1 December 2010

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - “Returning to the origin of Social Communication, sharing the Divine Word who became flesh” was the theme of the Meeting of the Coordinators for Social Communication of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) in the Asia Pacific, held recently in Tai Pei. According to reports by the Catholic Weekly from the Archdiocese of Tai Pei, the meeting was sponsored by the SVD General Curia in Rome, and was attended by 18 responsible for Social Communication in the region, under the guidance of Father Thomas Kallanchira, responsible for this area at the level of general government. In his presentation, Fr Kallanchira emphasized “self-communication of God in Christ, an optimal sign of communicative dialogue between God and us,” the most important mission of the Coordinators for Social Communication and dialogue. “For the Divine Word Missionaries that is even more significant, because our mission is to share the Divine Word,” reiterated Fr Kallanchira. Among the goals for the Meeting there was also the exchange of experiences between brothers on this topic, elaborating the program for the future. In summary the following issues were addressed: formation in social communication, use of means of social communication in pastoral care, new challenges of social communication and collaboration among the Divine Word Missionaries.
The Missionaries are highly active in evangelization through the means of social communication, using means considered to be particularly advanced in the Asia-Pacific region. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 01/12/2010)
