ASIA/HONG KONG - Christians invite everyone to live All Hallows' Eve in faith, thanksgiving, and holiness

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) – Christians in Hong Kong invite everyone, especially young people, to live an experience of faith, a sense of thanksgiving, and of striving for holiness of life in the night preceding the feast of All Saints, November 1 (All Hallows' Eve). According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), the Protestant group “U-Fire” has emphasized the Christian spirit of thanksgiving on this night, rather than the culture of horror and macabre sponsored by secular society and motivated only by money and commercial interests. The Catholic Association "Touch" has organized a seminar in the Parish of St. Anthony to emphasize the importance of the feast of All Saints in relation to Halloween, as it reminds us that "the good has fought the darkness, that joy has dispelled fear, that eternal life shines in its light," and it invites everyone to offer an alternative to Halloween to the youth of today. According to Fr. Simon Li, "the feast of All Saints is an invitation to holiness. Next year, we enter the Year of the Laity in the Diocese of Hong Kong. Thus, the faithful should know that sanctification is part of our Christian mission." (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 29/10/2010)
