Thursday, 16 September 2010

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - In view of the Year of the Laity 2011 organized by the Hong Kong diocese, the Diocesan Preparatory Commission is making a telephone survey to know the "current life of the faithful": their life of prayer, faith, participation in the sacraments .... According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), for the Commission the survey is not only useful to get an idea of the situation, but it is above all a means to for appropriately organizing initiatives during the Year of the Laity. In August, 2,400 faithful were contacted and the survey continues in September and October. The results will be published, offering some clue as to the lives of the faithful in the Diocese of Hong Kong. According to Msgr. Dominic Chan, Vicar General, the survey touches on four topics: Bible reading, prayer, the sacraments, and the community. In recent years, priests have come to know the situation on these issues through pastoral ministry in the parishes, however, “this poll is an additional element that will helps the Church to draw up a comprehensive pastoral plan.” (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 16/09/2010)
