Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) – “If a Catholic does not read the Bible, he will not be able to grow”:with these words Archbishop John Hung, Archbishop of Tai Pei, following the teachings of Saint Jerome, Doctor of the Church who said that "ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ," urged the faithful to learn more about the Bible. According to information gathered by Fides, the occasion was the first meeting of the new council members of the Federation of the Bible Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Tai Pei, held recently, during which the new councilors and all the members of the Federation confirmed their full availability at the service of the Holy Scriptures, during the period of their mandate, but also throughout their entire lives. Fr. Paul Peng, OFM, spiritual director of the Federation, spoke on "Read, meditate, and apply Scripture" by encouraging the spirit of dedication to this task with the method that society today needs. Meanwhile, the new councilors have two important appointments: the Seventh Camp of Communion in the Study of Sacred Scripture in 2010, to be held in the Diocese of Kaohsiung October 22 to 24, and the Ninth Seminar on the Chinese Language Bible, which will be held in Malaysia in November.
