AMERICA/BRAZIL - Role and contribution of the PMS to the current ecclesial and social situation

Brasilia (Agenzia Fides) – The Meeting of National Directors and Secretaries of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of the Southern Cone ends today, September 13. According to information sent to Fides, the meeting was held at the national headquarters of the PMS in Brazil, September 8 to 13. Representatives of the PMS of Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, and Chile were present. Father Gervase Queiroga also attended the meeting, as a Councilor.
The program was organized according to the methodology of see-judge-act. Thus, a day was dedicated to the exchange of experiences among the PMS of different countries (see), a second day was dedicated to the collaboration and exchange of views (judge), and a third day was dedicated to a round of proposals and guidelines for the future (act). The final day was a celebration, friendship, sharing of leisure and dedicated to the celebration ... Everything revolved around the question: “What is the role, the function, and the contribution of the PMS in the missions today, in the current ecclesial, social, and global situation?” (CE) (Agenzia Fides 13/09/2010)
