AMERICA/PERU - Caritas Peru delivers 15 tons of aid to inhabitants suffering cold wave

Puno (Agenzia Fides) – The campaign of solidarity “Abriguemos a Mazocruz-Puno” (Let's Keep Mazocruz-Puno Warm) has ended. Mazocruz-Puno is a town in the Southern Andes of Peru.
The campaign was organized by Caritas of Peru, along with America Television, a TV channel in Peru, which managed to collect 15 tons of aid for inhabitants of the areas in the Department of Puno, in the Southern Andes of Peru, on the border with Bolivia.
The note sent to Fides from Caritas reports that an aircraft named “Hercules,” of the Peruvian Air Force arrived in Juliaca yesterday, Monday, August 23, to deliver donations to Caritas Juli, for distribution in the municipality of Santa Rosa Mazocruz.
Aid, food, blankets, and medicine were brought by the President of Congress himself, Cesar Zumaeta, along with a parliamentary committee, which brought another donation of 4.5 tons of aid. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 24/08/2010)
