AMERICA/PERU - Huancayo continues the Continental Mission, 100 “Missionary Disciples” in formation

Huancayo (Agenzia Fides) – On July 11, the Archdiocese of Huancayo will hold the Third Assembly of the "Missionary Disciples" of the Second Vicariate, to continue the Continental Mission in the parishes of the Mantaro Valley. According to information received Fides from the Bishops' Conference of Peru, the various activities in the context of Continental Mission continue. Father Mario Vilcahuamán Castro reported that this meeting will provide an opportunity "to learn from the missionary experiences of the laity and to assume the mission of "being sent" into the most distant areas of the Archdiocese.
This meeting will be attended by more than one hundred delegates from the parishes of Jarpa, Quero, Chongos Alto, Chongos Bajo, Colca, Sicaya, Chupaca, and Pilcomayo, as well as guests from neighboring parishes who will share their successes in the mission to proclaim the Good News.
Participants will be invited to have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ and share their testimony of faith in parishes where the Church is strengthened with faces of hope and the desire to faithfully follow the Lord, to assume the pastoral challenges. The Archdiocese of Huancayo (in the central Andes of Peru) comprises the provinces of Huancayo, Concepción, Chupaca, Jauja, and Yauli, which form the department of Junin, with an area of nearly 44,197.23 square kilometers.
