ASIA/HONG KONG - Bishop of Hong Kong meets with Indonesian immigrants: pastoral care and solidarity of local Church

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - "Living far from home in itself is a challenge. We hope you find the peace given by Christ under the guidance of the Holy Spirit." With these words, Bishop John Tong of Hong Kong, encouraged Indonesian immigrants residing in Hong Kong during a meeting at the end of the month of May, Month of Mary. According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), the meeting took place in the Parish of Christ the King, where there is a large community of Indonesians and was a sign of solidarity from the diocese and of personal attention from the Bishop himself to Indonesian workers. There were over 650 Indonesian immigrants who participated in the Mass celebrated by Bishop Tong and concelebrated by Fr. Johannes Incarta, SVD, Chaplain of the Indonesian community in Hong Kong. One participant commented: "This community meeting and the meeting with the Bishop make us feel supported, experiencing a sharing of life and work." Every Sunday afternoon, the Indonesian community led by Fr. Incarta, celebrates an Indonesian-language Mass in the Parish of Christ the King, with a large participation of faithful.
