Aachen (Agenzia Fides) - “Even Jesus, at the beginning of his mission chose twelve 'players' for the 'World Cup' to 'win' the Kingdom of God,” writes Monsignor Winfrid Pilz, former Director of the Holy Childhood Association in Germany, in his meditation for children published in the magazine "Kindergarten + Mission," aimed at catechists among kindergarten-age children. Msgr. Pilz then asks, "Is the Christian community today still a community of active enthusiasts?” He also laments the fact that "many of us are just spectators."
In light of the upcoming World Cup beginning June 11, 2010 in South Africa, the last issue of the magazine is entirely devoted to the theme of soccer. In the various contributions and proposals for work with children, readers are reminded of the enthusiasm and interest that surrounds soccer worldwide and the great desire to play soccer that exists among all the children in various countries around the world, even the poorest. However, using several examples, the HCA also wants to recall the situation that exists "outside" the big soccer stadiums and the possibility of a concrete commitment to a better world.
Among the materials published and made available free of charge by the Holy Childhood Association in Germany (“Die Sternsinger”) for missionary animation among children, the magazine "Kindergarten + Mission" - addressing kindergarten teachers with insights and proposals for concrete activities - is a specialized publication for learning the overall themes of the mission at a kindergarten and elementary school level.
