ASIA/TAIWAN - “Put Out Into the Deep, Start Evangelizing”: theme of seminar held by National Council of the Lay Apostolate

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) – Analyze and study together the three key points presented in the 2010 Pastoral Letter of the Regional Bishops' Conference of Taiwan (on extending the spirit of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the evangelization of Taiwan, the Year for Priests, and a greater commitment to the ecological theme): this was the purpose of the Seminar held by the National Council of the Lay Apostolate in Taiwan and the Assembly of the Council's own advisors, which took place in recent days in the Archdiocese of Tai Pei on “Put Out Into the Deep, Start Evangelizing.” According to information received by Fides, during the Seminar, Archbishop John Hung, SVD, President of the Regional Bishops' Conference of Taiwan and spiritual assistant of the Council spoke on the "Prospects and Strategies for Extending the Spirit of the Celebration of the 150th anniversary of evangelization, calling on all to continue working with enthusiasm in the work of evangelization and Bible reading, in order to build a living Church. He also stressed that training faithful priests is an effective way to increase vocations, in the wake of the Year for Priests. The Assembly of Councilors of the National Council of the Lay Apostolate has prepared a document entitled: "The Lay Community Applies the 3 Crucial Points Presented in the 2010 Pastoral Letter of the Regional Bishops' Conference of Taiwan."
