Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) – To help families get into the habit of venerating the image of Our Lady and praying before her image at home, the Legion of Mary in Hong Kong has launched a campaign entitled "Our Lady's Visit to Families" at the beginning of the month of Mary. According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), members of the Legion of Mary go out from the parishes to bring the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe to families. There, they pray, recite the Rosary, and read some passages of Scripture together with their host family. Then, they move on to another family to continue the pilgrimage of “Our Lady's Visit.” The sacred image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is a gift from Mexican missionary Fr. Gabriel Altamirano Ortega (Society for Foreign Missions of Mexico), who was for years pastor of the Parish of St. Margaret Mary, where did the initiative. According to the group leader of the Legion of Mary, "after this period of experience, we have verified that it is a very effective way to strengthen faith and communion among family members. During the prayer, non-Christian family members were also able to find peace and communion. It is a moment of sanctification of the whole family." Also, through this initiative, many faithful who had left the Church have returned. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 10/05/2010)
