Santiago (Agenzia Fides) – Saturday, April 17, in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Santiago, the episcopal ordination of Bishop Jorge Vega was celebrated, presided by the Archbishop of Santiago, Cardinal Francisco Javier Errazuriz Ossa. The co-consecrating bishops were Bishop Rafael de la Barra, Bishop Emeritus of Illapel, and Bishop Carlos Pellegrin, Bishop of Chillán. The ceremony was also attended by the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Giuseppe Pinto, along with many bishops of Chile, who accompanied the new Pastor with deep emotion. There was no lack of representatives and staff from the Pontifical Mission Societies, in particular the Holy Childhood Association. In his homily, Cardinal Errazuriz said, among other things, that Christ himself is the one who has entrusted Bishop Jorge Vega with the task of guiding His sheep and as a bishop, he leaves everything to follow him everywhere.
