AMERICA/PERU - Cardinal Archbishop of Lima calls for prayers for Chile and for conversion

Monday, 1 March 2010

Lima (Agenzia Fides) – During his radio program "Faith Dialogue,” Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani, Archbishop of Lima, expressed his sympathy and solidarity to all the Chilean people affected by the earthquake on the morning of Saturday, February 27. "Our proximity and our solidarity is especially with those people who have suffered losses due to this earthquake in the area of Concepcion (south-central Chile). We are close in prayer, asking the Lord that these people may find the serenity and calm and that the Lord may bring peace and light to them in this difficult time." The Archbishop of Lima also encouraged the faithful to have an attitude of conversion during Lent, to convert their heart to God: "When it comes to conversion, we must remember that what we want to convert is our heart, because it is from out of the heart that hatred and revenge come. We should try to have more calm in our judgments, in our hearts, and greater sincerity. Patience and calm are very important, to make room for the truth." (CE) (Agenzia Fides 01/03/2010)
