ASIA/TAIWAN - Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres celebrate 50 years of mission on the island

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) – The Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres (SPC) have completed 50 years of mission in the island of Taiwan. During the solemn jubilee celebration presided over by Archbishop Peter Liu of Kaohsiung, the nuns celebrated this important milestone with the diocese, parishes, and lay members of St. Paul of Chartres, confirming their journey in the footsteps of St. Paul. According to information received by Fides, the Provincial Superior of the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres, Sister Marie Jacqueline Ho, came specially from Hong Kong to participate in the festivities. During the ceremony, the lay friends of St. Paul of Chartres took vows. The Congregation of St. Paul of Chartres, SPC, begun in Levesville-la-Chenard in France in 1696, arrived in Hong Kong in 1848. In 1960, several sisters from Hong Kong arrived in Tao Yuan, on the island of Taiwan. Today, they are engaged in the fields of parish ministry, education, health, and social services.
