ASIA/INDIA - Bosco Kids are “Social Reformers”: thousands of children renew their commitment

Bangalore (Agenzia Fides) - The Third All Karnataka State-Level Convention of the Salesians-run ‘Bosco Kids’ was held at St. Charles High School auditorium at Lingarajpuram. More than a thousand ‘Bosco Kids’ and their animators from 64 schools in Karnataka participated in the daylong programme. Salesian provincial, Father Thomas Anchukandam, presided over the inaugural function. Salesian Father Gilbert Choondal enlightened the participants on the theme of the event, Bosco Kids are Social Reformers. All the thousand children renewed their pledge as Bosco Kids. Fifty Bosco Kids from Sacred Heart School, J.B. Nagar, Bangalore, were specially congratulated for winning the first prize for their performance during the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi. In the afternoon, the various participating schools performed cultural programmes. Bosco Kids is an all-inclusive movement by the Salesians of Don Bosco for schoolchildren, with the motto ‘Better Self, Better World’ for peace and harmony in society. It now has more than 225 units with over 7,000 members in Karnataka.
