Thursday, 21 January 2010

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - The vocation, prayer for vocations, the response to the call of God, and the meaning of life are the main topics addressed by Fr. Benedict Lam Cho Ming, Rector of Holy Spirit Seminary of the Diocese of Hong Kong who led the training course "Spirituality of Pastoral Education Workers.” According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), the course was held at the premises of the seminary in recent days, gathering about eighty people who work in Catholic elementary and high schools of the diocese and also those run by religious institutions that operate in Hong Kong.
Using the example of the vocations of Mary, Moses, and St. Joseph, Fr. Lam said that "the Lord hears the prayers of his children, calling them to cooperate with His divine plan. But, this also requires the cooperation and courage of the faithful, for example the Year of Prayer for Priestly Vocations: the Lord will hear our voices, but we must always turn to Him to live our identity as children of God." Fr. Dominic Chan, Vicar of the Diocese, explained the situation of permanent deacons of the diocese and the participants exchanged experiences from their pastoral work during the school year. The course ended with the missionary mandate for those working in pastoral education. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 21/01/2010)
