Tuesday, 5 January 2010

Medellin (Agenzia Fides) - The Archdiocese of Medellín is preparing a special event: the International Catholic Fair to be held February 18 and 21, 2010, in the first week of Lent, at the Botanical Gardens. The priests of the Archdiocese have gladly received the news of the completion of the event, which attracts the interest of Catholics from the city and abroad. In a statement sent to exhibitors, Archbishop Alberto Giraldo Jaramillo of Medellin said: "Thanks to the results and impact caused by exhibitors and visitors, we have two big news this year: one more day of fair and a location as big as the Botanical Gardens of the city, in order to accommodate more visitors and expand the program of pastoral activities. The fair, which is now being held for the third time, will take place within the framework of the Year for Priests, the Fourth Synod of the Archdiocese, and the Continental Mission, with the theme "Disciples and missionaries of Jesus Christ, so that our peoples may have life in Him." The theme is: “Authentic charity is a mission!”
The fair is an initiative of the Archdiocese of Medellin with the "Signos Pastorales" Society, which is in charge of strategies and the development of communications campaigns for the Catholic Church in Medellin, in order to present the city of Medellin to the world as a "Catholic Latin American city." Visitors can find religious articles, books, stands of Shrines, religious crafts, religious tourism, software for pastoral care, new tools for communication, and much more. There are now more than 200 local and foreign exhibitors registered. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 5/01/2010)
