OCEANIA/AUSTRALIA - Young people and the future of the Church in Australia: National Convention of Youth Ministry in 2010

Friday, 13 November 2009

Sydney (Agenzia Fides) – Young people and the future of the Church in Oceania: to determine the challenges and prospects for a “post-WYD,” leaders and youth ministers in Australia will meet in Melbourne in 2010 in a National Convention organized by the Australian Bishops' Conference.
The local Church tells Fides how the event will place young people and leaders of the Church on a path of dialogue, exchange of ideas, association, and network. The event will be held in Melbourne from October 1 to 3, 2010 and will depart from the theme chosen for the World Youth Day 2010, based on the passage from the Gospel of Mark "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life? "(Mark 10:17). The convention will offer seminars and workshops, exhibition stands, performances for young people...
"Because we have experienced the grace and excitement of World Youth Day in Sydney, we must continue to meet, share and reflect on ways and means to proclaim Christ's message," said Bishop Joseph Grech, Bishops' Delegate for Young People.
The event is part of the path outlined by the Bishops' Conference for Youth Ministry in Australia, explained in 2009 by the document "Consecrated and Sent" (see Fides 27/7/2009). (PA) (Agenzia Fides 13/11/2009)
