ASIA/CHINA - New 2010 Calendar from Faith Press dedicated to the Year for Priests and “Our Popes”

Thursday, 5 November 2009

Shi Jia Zhuang (Agenzia Fides) – The new Catholic calendars for 2010 from Faith, the large communications association in He Bei, have now been published. According to a statement sent from Faith to Agenzia Fides, two types of calendars were made for 2010. One is in a larger format and is dedicated to the Year for Priests declared by Pope Benedict XVI and that is being celebrated by the Universal Church, and has a large image of Jesus Christ in the center, just like every year. The calendar with a relatively small format is entitled “Our Popes - Benedict XVI and John Paul II” as “we love them both so much.” For every month, there is one picture of John Paul II and one of Benedict XVI, taken during certain moments of their ministry (in audiences, in moments of personal prayer, during the Mass, studying, giving a blessing...) to symbolize “the succession of Peter and perfect harmony and communion with the Church.” There are also copies of the liturgical calendar for 2010, as well. Considering the suggestions of the oldest among the faithful, Faith has printed the characters using a larger font, so as to facilitate reading. “Thanks to the collaboration of so many, we have also improved the quality of the printing, which has allowed us to use much better photos of the Pope than in the past,” the note from Faith concludes.
