AMERICA/ARGENTINA - “Missionary Disciples, here and beyond our borders”: preparation for the III National Encounter of Missionary Groups 2010

Tuesday, 27 October 2009

Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) – Bishop Sergio Fenoy of San Miguel, in a message sent to priests, community superiors of consecrated life, directors of educational institutions, and members of Church movements and associations, has asked the entire diocesan community to join in collaborating in the organization of the III National Encounter of Missionary Groups, scheduled to take place October 9-11 of next year, on the theme: “Missionary Disciples, here and beyond our borders.” The Prelate announced the participation of 5,000 missionaries from all different countries, the majority of them young people, which makes “our hosting them a special grace.” It will be “an occasion to show, in a simple, fraternal, and festive manner, our hospitality towards so many of our brethren who will come to visit us and it will be an opportunity for our local Church to be renewed in her missionary zeal and commitment to the permanent mission in our communities,” he added.
The organization of the Encounter is being carried out by the Pontifical Mission Societies of Argentina, but the Diocese of San Miguel has created an ad hoc Committee to collaborate in the preparations. Thus, the Bishop mentioned his desire to count on collaboration from “everyone” - pastors and faithful – to prepare the Encounter and to “give our best, aware of our poverty.” “We need everyone's help...no one should feel excluded from this Church-wide event.” In concluding his message, Bishop Fenoy entrusted the spiritual and missionary fruits of the Encounter to “Mary, Star of the New Evangelization, Saint Francis Xavier, and Saint Therese of Lisieux.” (GT) (Agenzia Fides 27/10/2009)
